We believe that international cooperation will greatly add to the school curriculum & will have a positive effect on both pupils and teachers as well as on the local community. The introduction of outdoor education in different concepts and approaches will be part of the learning programme, both for students and teachers.
For students the activities will provide opportunities for increasing their basic skills and transversal key competences e.g. developing their sense of initiative, the ability to turn ideas into action, building networks and establishing partnerships in Europe. We expect that the exchanges between students will involve and motivate all of them; the peer learning activities will support the more disadvantaged and those with other difficulties and will raise pupils' awareness of European issues. The pedagogical strategies of the project - in particular, student-centred approaches to learning and collaborative work - will promote the subject in ways that appeal especially to girls. The European context of this project also appeals to girls’ interest in languages and culture.
Students’ awareness of a common European culture will be developed. This theme naturally lends itself to cross-cultural activities that will encourage our students to reflect on a future sustainable world. Their understanding of key concepts in Science will allow them to see the interconnection between curriculum areas and encourage a wide-ranging curiosity about Europe and the world.
For teachers the chance to work with colleagues across Europe is inspirational for both new and established members of staff: sharing methods and knowledge will increase their professionalism, improve their pedagogical methods and encourage initiative, creativity and innovation. Opportunities to develop ideas, and innovative teaching methodologies will also be invaluable in the development of new ways to engage a wide range of pupils. Developing new learning environments will support continuous education of teachers, trainers and leaders of schools.
For the local community: accommodating foreign students with host families will increase the participation of students’ parents in school life. External partners, scientific institutions and museums will provide outdoor education and fruitful resources for the schools. Meetings to disseminate the project results will increase relationships with local authorities, education associations and sponsors in the world of work.
